AccuWeather forecast for NYC, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A stretch of comfortable weather is expected across the region for the Labor Day holiday weekend, with low humidity, mild temperatures and only a limited chance for a few spotty showers.
Forecast conditions are shaping up to be ideal for outdoor plans, with most locations staying dry through the long weekend.
On Saturday, a few isolated showers could develop during the afternoon, mainly north and east of the city. Another brief window for scattered showers may arrive Saturday night, but widespread wet weather is not expected.
Overall, temperatures will remain in the 70s throughout the holiday weekend, accompanied by noticeably lower humidity levels.
Labor Day appears to be the standout day of the holiday stretch, featuring mostly sunny skies and a high near 78 degrees. Saturday follows closely behind with a mix of sun and clouds and a high around 79 degrees.
Sunday is expected to begin with more cloud cover before brighter conditions develop during the afternoon. Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-70s, giving the day a feel more typical of late September than early September.
At area beaches, north winds of 5 to 10 mph will keep seas relatively calm at 1 to 3 feet, and the rip current risk remains low. Air quality is expected to stay good, though ragweed levels remain high and grass pollen has begun increasing again as the region transitions into a late-summer, early-fall pattern. The UV index is forecast to reach a high level of 7, enough to produce sunburn in about 30 minutes for unprotected skin.
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will gradually warm as many students return to school and workers head back after the holiday. Highs are expected to climb into the lower 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday, with humidity slowly increasing. A thunderstorm could develop Thursday as a weather front approaches, but current indications suggest favorable timing for Sept. 11 observances, with mostly sunny skies, lower humidity and temperatures in the upper 70s returning by the end of the week.
